1. 1st and 2nd mvt. from a quartet by Haydn

2. one fast mvt. (1st or 4th) from a quartet by Mendelssohn

 

The competition consists of 4 rounds.

 

Program of competition rounds

1st round                                                                                               

1.

one quartet by Haydn from op. 74., 76., 77., or one quartet Mozart K. 387–590 (excepted Adagio and fugue K. 546), or by Beethoven from op. 18. or by Schubert D 87, 112.

The 1st and 4th mvts. are to be performed without repetitions.

 

2.

Schumann: 1st and 2nd mvts. from op. 41 No. 3 in A-major

 

2nd round                                                                  

1.

3 (or 5) fugues chosen from the following works:

Mozart: K 405 (all 5 fugues)

Bach: 3 fugues from Die Kunst der Fuge no. 1., 2., 4., 6., 9., 10., 11. (Bãrenreiter)

Purcell: 4-part Fantasias (3 fantasias)

or

Mozart: Adagio and fugue K. 546

 

2.

one 20th century quartet from the following list
